The Latonya Reeves Freedom Act is on the verge of passing in the House of Representatives. But it must get to the floor for a vote!
To do that (overruling the Speaker), a discharge petition has been filed. A majority of the House (218, or a few less with vacancies) must sign the petition, in person, on the House floor.
As you know, The Latonya Reeves Freedom Act, named in honor of a woman who fled a nursing home in Tennessee to move to Colorado so she could access the care she needed to live in her own home, would codify existing law and strengthen the right of Americans with disabilities, including veterans and children, to receive long-term services and supports (LTSS) in the setting of their choice.
Please, contact your Member of Congress and urge them to sign the discharge, rather than let a worthy and critical bill with majority support fail due to parliamentary semantics.
