Support Adoption Tax Credit
Exciting news! The Committee on Revenue reported Representative Mike Soter's bill to Promote Adoption, HB 2638, favorably!

The bill, cosponsored by a bipartisan group of 11 legislators, would change the current tax credit for adoption to expand the list of deductible expenses for income tax purposes and adds a refundable tax credit of $1,000 to a parent who adopts a child in the tax year.

There are millions of children who need a home and many pro-life pregnant women who find themselves in a position where they need to give up their child for adoption once the child is born. But adoption can be very expensive.

Representative Soter's Promote Adoption bill will provide an incentive for adoption by allowing the expenses for an adoption to be deducted from income for income tax purposes and will provide a $1,000 refundable tax credit, and thereby lowering the cost of adoption.

Please send your senator and representative an email today asking them to support Rep. Soter's Promote Adoption Bill, HB 2638.

Thank you!
