The Build, Utilize, Invest, Learn, and Deliver (BUILD) for Veterans Act of 2023 would streamline the processes VA uses to design and build medical facilities and other infrastructure projects, bolster the department's workforce, and expedite the disposal or repurposing of unused and vacant buildings owned by the VA.
It also directs the VA to examine its current infrastructure budgeting strategies and requires them to develop a strategic infrastructure plan so they can provide that information, along with performance data, to Congress.
In sum, the BUILD for Veterans Act will help the VA meet the needs of current and future veterans, including women veterans, veterans in need of long-term services, and veterans with SCI/D, all part of PVA's priorities. The bill provides a comprehensive approach to help address problems with VA’s internal processes that have hindered its ability to ensure the department’s infrastructure is able to meet the ever-growing demand for not only acute health care services but also facility-based long-term care options.
PVA Position:
Please contact your elected officials and urge them to pass H.R. 3225/S. 42, the BUILD for Veterans Act, which would allow the VA to modernize the department's medical facilities and streamline infrastructure projects.
