We have introduced two bills: An Act Relative to a Livable Wage for Human Services Workers (SD.1201 | HD.3396) and An Act Relative to a Loan Repayment Program for Human Services Workers (SD.1820 | HD.503).
You can review our fact sheets for these two bills here and here. The fact sheets are also available for download in Spanish and French.
Last year, the Conference Committee included the reporting language from our livable wage bill in its budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2025. This language calls for a report comparing wages between community-based human services workers and state workers in similar job roles which is set to be released April 1st, 2025. This will be critical in our efforts to get the livable wage for private, community-based nonprofit human services workers bill, passed!
But turning a bill into law is a difficult process, and The Caring Force needs your help in order to be successful.
Will you take five minutes today to send a pre-written letter or tweet to your State Representative and State Senator asking them to co-sponsor our two bills?
Please note the system may send you an email with a code to enter to confirm sending your message – please check your junk/spam folder for the code if you cannot find it! You must enter this code to send your message.
You can also include your personal story to make your message more effective: Let your legislator know who you are, how you are connected to human services and what it would mean to you and your family if these bills become law.
Please email or tweet today and ask them to pass these bills that will help that will help workers, clients, consumers and the entire human services sector.
All it takes is five minutes today to help strengthen the human services sector and build caring communities throughout Massachusetts. And all you need to do is enter your street address - we will do the rest!
If you need more help understanding our legislative agenda, we will be hosting a webinar at the beginning of March, in both English and Spanish (and potentially in French!), to explain our goals. RSVP for this event here!
On behalf of our more than 32,000 members, thank you for your advocacy on these critical issues.
