Tell Congress: Act now to stop the war in Sudan
The crisis in Sudan is dire. More than 15,000 are dead, over 9 million are displaced, and famine is spreading. A lack of access to food, health services, and education has shattered lives. Every day, more people are killed, injured, or subject to rape and sexual violence. Now there are fears another genocide is unfolding.   The U.S. must act to halt this devastation. There are now bipartisan efforts in Congress to recognize Sudan's atrocities as genocide. The Biden administration has also acknowledged war crimes by both the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces.

Today, we must urge representatives and senators to support these congressional efforts. We must also call on elected officials to ensure vital humanitarian aid for Sudan and push for long-term, sustainable peace.

Send a message to Congress today!

On Dec. 6, 2023, Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a determination that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), and the allied militia groups, had engaged in crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing. It also stated that both the RSF and Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) had committed war crimes. All of this underscores the urgent need for intervention.

Senators Risch, Cardin, Scott, and Booker have introduced a bipartisan resolution (S Res 559) recognizing the atrocities committed in Sudan.  In addition to calling for a Special Envoy for Sudan, the legislation calls on the administration to urgently work to end the conflict by developing a comprehensive strategy for sanctioning the RSF, SAF, and those who are supplying weapons to them and take steps to hold accountable those who have committed grave human rights violations and crimes against humanity.  It also calls on the administration to join with international partners to work collectively to achieve peace in Sudan.

Urge your members to cosponsor S Res 559 and use their influence to pressure the Biden administration to continue to make peace in Sudan a priority!
