Due to the consistent advocacy of the PA education community, the Department’s final rule protected the ability of programs to facilitate remote clinical rotations for students. Programs with questions on the Department’s final rule are invited to attend office hours with PAEA Government Relations staff on December 6 at 3 PM ET.
    • On November 16, President Biden signed a continuing resolution extending funding for federal government operations through early 2024. In addition to funding the Departments of Education and Health and Human Services through February 2, the continuing resolution also extending funding for the National Health Service Corps scholarship and loan repayment programs through January 19.
  • Health Care News in Washington
    • In early November, the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Primary Health subcommittee held a hearing examining the use of artificial intelligence in clinical settings.
    • On November 15, the House Energy and Commerce Health subcommittee advanced a series of legislative proposals intended to increase oversight of the practices of pharmacy benefit managers.
  • Opportunities for Action
    • As Congress continues to work to complete the FY24 appropriations process, members must continue to hear constituents advocate for strengthened health workforce investments to address provider shortages and their impact on the quality of care delivered to all communities. Please urge Congress to support increased funding for all Title VII health workforce development programs for FY24 today.
