    • PAEA submitted testimony to the House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Other Related Agencies Appropriations subcommittee in May detailing the Association’s funding priorities the upcoming fiscal year. In the testimony, PAEA reiterated the call of the Health Professions and Nursing Education Coalition for $1.51 billion in funding for Title VII and VIII health workforce development programs for fiscal year 2022.
  • Health Care News in Washington
    • The Biden Administration released its first full budget proposal in late May, calling for a total of $131.8 billion in discretionary budget authority for the Department of Health and Human Services in fiscal year 2022.
    • The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions committee unanimously advanced the Rural MOMS Act to the full Senate for consideration on May 25. If enacted, this bill would authorize $5 million annually to support rural obstetrics and gynecology clinical rotations for PA and other health professions students through fiscal year 2025.
  • Opportunities for Action
    • PAEA is continuing its campaign for workforce diversity by urging members of Congress to cosponsor and pass the Black Maternal Health Momnibus Act. If you have not already done so, please send a message to your representatives urging them to do so today.
