As the statewide trade association representing over 450 skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, NYSHFA|NYSCAL asks that you contact your State legislators and request that they restore 15% in capital reimbursement rate cuts made over the past five years to assist skilled nursing providers with aging nursing home infrastructure improvements in the FY 2025-26 State Budget.

New York’s nursing homes are aging, and facilities require significant upgrades to ensure quality care and patient safety. The FY 2024-25 Enacted Budget imposed a 10% cut to the capital component of the nursing home Medicaid rate in addition to a previous 5% cut in 2020 to the capital component. The Governor's FY 2025-26 Executive Budget failed to acknowledge these cuts.

Let your lawmakers know that a Medicaid reimbursement rate increase MUST be part of continued State Budget negotiations.
