NYSHFA|NYSCAL strongly supports the authorization of trained and certified medication aides (“CMAs”) to administer routine and prefilled medications in nursing homes as set forth in the Governor's FY 2025-26 Executive Budget because:
- Certified medication aides already work in New York State's assisted living facilities.
- Certified medication aides increase quality and reduce errors.
- Certified medication aides supplement the nursing workforce and enable RNs to get "back to the bedside."
