Let Florida Judges Know: FLAGS Are Mandated
Under Supreme Court Order SC00-1410, each circuit court in Florida must operate a family law advisory group (FLAG) that is open to “local community leaders and any other interested persons or organizations to support and advise the family court.” The general public and family court stakeholders are looking to the circuit courts to embrace discussion groups that would foster collaboration, remove any confusion about jurisdictions, and provide direction for how they should work together for the best interests of children and families.

Without a FLAG, the siloed public agencies have challenges sharing data or community feedback between each other, not to mention with their customers. Without eliciting feedback from the public and sharing the information, these entities are unaware of families’ experiences at specific touchpoints throughout their journeys in the system and do not make improvements for better experiences with greater efficiencies. A properly executed FLAG would facilitate the agencies gaining a better understanding of the system that many families currently consider to be insensitive, obstructive, and harmful – psychologically, emotionally, financially, socially, and legally.

Email your circuit court judge and trial administrator now: not only is a FLAG mandatory, it is needed to get the feedback courts need to run well and provide justice for the people.
