Oppose the Durbin-Pallone Bill Granting New FDA Powers
Friends,

Senator Durbin and Representative Pallone will not rest until dietary supplements are regulated like drugs. He made his intentions known on the floor of the United States Senate when he said, "[dietary supplements] can hit the shelves... and not be regulated in any way like prescription drugs."

Their new proposal allows the FDA to prohibit the marketing of certain ingredients in dietary supplements without rendering a safety opinion. This rehash of a failed piece of mandatory product listing fails to address legitimate concerns and will prevent many safe ingredients, such as NAC and NMN, from being left out of the market without any scientific rendering.

The FDA has the tools necessary to go after illegal products like tianeptine. Proposals like this make one think that the agency is genetically predisposed against basic law enforcement and would much rather spend taxpayer-funded time and resources pursuing overreaching authorities that muddy the waters for legitimate dietary ingredients.

We need all wellness advocates to write to Congress to let them know they oppose Senator Durbin and Rep. Pallone's proposal.

Thank you,

Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D.
