Please Bring B 25-0287 - Counseling Compact Approval Act of 2023, for a Vote before the Full Council!
The DC Council Committee on Health has passed the Counseling Compact Approval Act, and now the full Council needs to schedule a vote on the bill. Use the Action Center to urge your Council member to support a vote on the bill.

Please advocate for increased access to mental health services by sharing with your legislators that 37 states (Compact Map) have passed legislation to join the compact.. You can find more compact updates, including up-coming meeting dates, here if you would like to attend any commission or committee meeting. All commission meetings are open to the public.

The Counseling Compact will:

  • expand the mobility of the counseling workforce
  • enable counselors to serve clients who are increasingly engaged in multi-state employment and education
  • facilitate efficient licensure processes for military-connected families
  • ensure that proper regulatory processes necessary for the protection of the public are maintained and completed

The counseling compact is more important now than ever before! Due to significant shifts in client mobility, including opportunities for remote work and education, cross-state movement and engagement has increased. This further highlights the need for counselors to have the privilege to practice in multiple states and DC's citizens will be well-served by enacting B 25-0287.

Visit the DC Legislature for up-to-date bill information. We urge you to contact your legislators to request support of this bill.
