At a recent congressional briefing held by the National Coalition on Mental Health and Aging, Rep. John Katko (R-NY) gave an impassionate plea for attendees to support H.R. 3032 and expand access to mental health and addiction treatment for America’s seniors.
The NBCC, a member of the National Coalition on Mental Health and Aging, strongly supports the bill and has helped lead a bipartisan, grassroots effort to have the legislation passed. The bill would allow professional counselors to provide mental health services to Medicare clients.
The panel at the briefing included experts in the fields of mental health and addiction and focused on the unique challenges that this population faces. The briefing was part of a series of events organized as part of May Mental Health Awareness month and sponsored by the Congressional Mental Health Caucus.
