SUCCESS! Arizona House Bill 2406 is dead!
March 5, 2018 by NBCC Government Affairs
Arizona House Bill 2406, which would have eliminated licensure for professional counselors and abolished the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners, is dead for the session. The bill will not be read before the Health Committee in the Arizona House of Representatives, stalling its progress and effectively killing the legislation! This ensures that the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners will remain intact and that licensure for professional counselors will be preserved.

Grassroots advocacy by Arizona counselors played a major role in this effort. Over 1,400 messages were sent by NCCs in Arizona using NBCC’s Grassroots Action Center. Some NCCs used personal connections with lawmakers to stall the policy. Broad opposition from across the state convinced legislative leaders that the policy was harmful to the public. We would like to thank all of our advocates in Arizona who took action on this important issue.
