We are at a critical moment for HB 1432 (Improving access to appropriate mental health and substance use disorder services.), and we need your help! Urge your lawmakers to move this legislation forward.
HB 1432 takes a stand against unfair insurance practices that are driving providers out of networks and leaving patients without access to care. Right now, as many of you know firsthand, insurers can demand repayments months or even years later for care that we have already provided in good faith. These clawbacks force mental health providers—many of whom are small business owners—into financial instability, discouraging us from accepting insurance and shrinking provider networks.
This bill will:
- Limit insurance clawbacks to 180 days, except in cases of fraud, ensuring fairness and predictability.
- Expand mental health provider networks, reducing administrative burdens and financial risks.
- Guarantee that mental health care is treated with the same urgency as physical health care.
Advocates have fought hard to get to this point. Legislators need to hear directly from providers about why this bill is essential.
Take 5 seconds to send a message to your legislator: Tell them to vote YES on HB 1432 before it’s too late!
