July 10, 2024 by Jeremy Arp

NASW-WA shares rulemaking notices from the Department of Health to keep you informed on the progress of legislative implementation. See below for details.

Rules Workshop

The Department of Health (department) is hosting a rules workshop to review draft language and gain feedback that will amend and implement recent legislation for the mental health counselor, marriage and family therapist, and social worker professions.

On April 18th, 2024, the department filed a CR 101 under WSR 24-10-012. The department is considering amending, repealing or creating new sections in chapter 246-809 WAC to (1) reducing or removing barriers to entering and remaining in the behavioral health care workforce, (2) measures to streamline and shorten the credentialing process, (3) implementing interstate licensing compacts, (4) removing renewal limits for associate level credentials, and (5) other amendments to the chapter as appropriate.

Workshops will take place on Tuesday, July 16th, Thursday, July 18th, and Tuesday, July 23rd, at 12:00pm-1:00pm.  You will only need to attend one workshop, but welcome to attend as many as you would like.

If you would like to submit written feedback, please send it to Lana.Crawford@doh.wa.gov

Please join the department with the link below to discuss potential language as listed above.
