Governor Whitmer will deliver her 6th State of the State address On Jan. 24, 2024. The address is an annual speech delivered to both houses of the Michigan Legislature to provide an update on the State's condition and an opportunity for the Governor to emphasize their priorities and pursuits moving forward. During Governor Whitmer's first State of the State address on Feb. 12th. 2019, various points were introduced: the importance of increasing representation of women in Michigan legislature, improving the condition of drinking water for all of Michigan, and the value of continued bipartisan support for such goals to be achieved. Similar updates have been given in the following State of the State addresses since 2019.
The 2024 address will occur at 7:00 pm in a joint house session and can be viewed Here where it will be broadcast live. According to Michigan’s governmental website, this year's address will contain the accomplishments achieved by a democratic-led legislature and goals such as emphasizing educational investment and boosting the State’s economy. In a quote from Governor Whitmer, she says, “ After one of the most successful years in our state’s history, we’ve delivered on our promises to Michiganders, ranging from record tax cuts for families and free school meals for students to safer communities and more personal freedoms under the law. I look forward to sharing my vision for how we continue getting things done so everyone can build a brighter future in Michigan.”
