Support codifying RAFT and securing upstream housing benefits!
Stable housing is increasingly inaccessible to many of our community members in Massachusetts. As social workers, we know that the stress associated with housing instability can lead to an overall lower quality of life as well as many mental and physical health concerns. That’s why NASW-MA is advocating for (SD.1162/HD.2053) An Act providing upstream homelessness prevention assistance to families, youth, and adults. This legislation would codify the Rental Assistance for Families in Transition (RAFT) program in state statute and streamline access to benefits. The RAFT program already helps countless households in Massachusetts—let’s do everything we can to make sure nobody endures the trauma of avoidable housing instability. Please write to your legislator using the template below to advocate for this legislation.
