Take action to support a pilot program for overdose prevention centers!
In Massachusetts, the number of preventable deaths by drug overdose continues to rise over time. This is a social justice issue: the overdose crisis most adversely impacts communities that are already systemically marginalized. Social workers must fight back, and this is why NASW-MA is advocating for (SD.2483/HD.4212) An Act relative to preventing overdose deaths and increasing access to treatment. This legislation would allow Massachusetts cities and towns to open evidence-based safe consumption sites where patients can use pre-obtained drugs under the supervision of a healthcare worker. If you want to do your part to drastically curb overdose deaths in our state, please write to your legislators using the template below!
