Take Action to Protect Child Welfare in Illinois
House Bill 1715 has passed the House committee unanimously, but we need your help to ensure it continues moving forward! This bill removes outdated statutory language that allows the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to establish its own law enforcement division—an authority that has never been used and sends the wrong message about the role of DCFS.

Social workers know that trust is critical when working with families. If DCFS were perceived as a policing entity, families may hesitate to seek help, putting children at greater risk. HB 1715 ensures that DCFS remains a human services agency, not a law enforcement agency—reinforcing its core mission of family support and child protection.

We need YOU to take action! Contact your legislators today and urge them to support and co-sponsor HB 1715 when it comes up for a vote in the full House. Take Action to email your representative now.
