Prior authorization delays continue to create unnecessary barriers for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries who need timely access to medically necessary rehabilitation services. H.R. 3514 / S. 1816, the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act, would modernize the Medicare Advantage prior authorization process by increasing transparency, supporting electronic prior authorization, and helping ensure faster, more consistent decisions for patient care. This bipartisan legislation is an important step toward reducing administrative burden and protecting access to therapy and post-acute services.
NARA is calling on all members to contact their Members of Congress and ask them to co-sponsor H.R. 3514 / S. 1816. Rehabilitation providers see firsthand how prior authorization delays can disrupt care plans, slow recovery, and place additional strain on patients, families, and clinical teams. Now is the time to urge Congress to act and support policies that put patients first not paperwork first.
