04/07/25 ACTION ALERT (NV): Only Days to Tell Leaders to Back PBM, Test & Treat Bills!
NACDS RxIMPACT needs your help telling members of the Nevada Legislature to support and advance four pro-patient, pro-pharmacy bills to support and advance patient access and the pharmacies that serve them.  Please join our effort to advance the following policies before April 11:

Senate Bill 316: Stop paying pharmacies below costs of acquiring the medications. This bill would take a critical step toward ensuring pharmacies can continue to provide essential and life-saving medications and other pharmacy care services to communities in Nevada without facing unreasonable and insufficient pharmacy benefits manager (PBM) reimbursement and manipulation. Take action to help us build support for fair reimbursement to local pharmacies by addressing critical issues such as below-cost reimbursement from PBMs, modifying pharmacy auditing requirements, elevating transparency, and reforming other perverse tactics imposed by PBMs.

Senate Bills 149 and 389: Create a single state PBM for Medicaid. These critical bills establish a single, state-contracted PBM for Medicaid, and address tactics of the current PBM middlemen that continue to drive up drug costs and threaten the survival of our local pharmacies. They would streamline and enhance transparency, paving the way for more efficient, cost-effective healthcare, ensuring that every community across Nevada maintains access to personalized care only a local pharmacy can provide.

Assembly Bill 186: Allow pharmacists to test and treat minor ailments. It is critical that leaders authorize pharmacists to order and administer any FDA-authorized and/or CLIA-waived test; initiate recommended treatment based on test results or other assessment; and require health insurance plans to allow pharmacists to bill and be reimbursed for these services. Nevada’s laws should support the option for residents to receive routine healthcare services, including testing and treatment for common conditions at their neighborhood pharmacies. Immediate changes are needed for pharmacists to provide routine testing and furnish recommended treatment.

Help NACDS RxIMPACT tell your state legislators to support and advance these bills. Please type in your contact information, and the letter-writing system will populate a letter to your state legislators. Our profession, our industry, and our patients are depending on you. If you have any questions about this communication, please contact Heidi Ecker, Vice President of Government, Political, and Digital Communications via email at Hecker@nacds.org.
