NACDS RxIMPACT needs your help battling a Massachusetts proposal that would set a per pharmacy prescription assessment on pharmacy providers that would negatively impact patients and the pharmacies that serve them.
Proposed by Governor Maura Healey (D-MA) in the Commonwealth’s draft budget, a provision would subject every pharmacy in Massachusetts to a per pharmacy prescription assessment in the amount of $2.00 per pharmacy prescription dispensed. While the Governor’s Office estimates the $2.00 per prescription charge could generate up to $145 million from pharmacies, the state has provided no guarantee its fully returned through MassHealth Medicaid pharmacy benefit dispensing fees. Unfortunately, this complicates a harmful trifecta of pharmacy closures, lower reimbursement rates for dispensing prescriptions, and a harmful excise tax.
Help NACDS RxIMPACT tell state legislators to oppose ANY tax on prescriptions and ensure lifesaving pharmaceutical access. All pharmacies need fair and sustainable reimbursement! Please type in your contact information, and the letter-writing system will populate letters to your state legislators.
Our profession, our industry, and our patients are depending on you. If you have any questions about this communication, please contact Heidi Ecker, Vice President of Government, Political, and Digital Communications via email at Hecker@nacds.org.
