On March 3rd, the Senate Committee of the Whole will decide whether to advance Senate Bill 1214 (SB 1214). The pharmacy community is working diligently to confirm “yes” votes to give this policy a chance in 2025. NACDS RxIMPACT needs your urgent help calling on state senators to support this critical legislation that will permit pharmacists to test and initiate treatment, as appropriate, for common conditions.
Pharmacists play a unique and vital role in our healthcare system. Every day, we engage with patients where they live, work, and shop – offering frequent and trusted touchpoints within our communities. Through these interactions, we hear firsthand about the needs of our patients and witness the challenges they face in accessing healthcare. SB 1214 would allow us to better meet these needs by empowering pharmacists to expand access to care, particularly for rural and underserved populations.
This issue is so important we need your help in two ways:
STEP ONE: WRITE:
Please type in your contact information, a letter will be populated to the state senator representing your address, and then click “send message” to send the communication.
STEP TWO: CALL.
Using your state senator’s name, please call 1-800-352-8404 and tell your state senator to vote YES on SB 1214 with the below easy-to-use talking points. Go the extra mile and contact others with whom you are connected (for example, your work address may connect to one state senator, but your home address may connect to another).
Talking Points:
1) Hello, my name is [Your Name], and I am a [pharmacist/pharmacy advocate] in [Your City]. I urge you to use your role to advance and vote YES on SB 1214 to expand patient access to timely, high-quality healthcare.
