Throughout 2023, NACDS RxIMPACT advocates have tirelessly engaged leaders of the U.S. House and U.S. Senate as they reviewed PBM reform policies. NACDS RxIMPACT is calling on each of you to again re-engage as the U.S. Senate Finance Committee will convene TOMORROW to advance PBM reforms!
On November 8, the Senate Finance Committee will gather to advance the Committee’s PBM reform package. This is a pivotal moment for us as we continue to work with leaders in Congress to ensure this legislation fully achieves its intent. Your help in this campaign is particularly important because we also need to help ensure REAL PBM REFORM overshadows any efforts by the PBM community to derail – or sabotage – these critically-necessary reforms!
This bipartisan package adds important components to the Committee-passed Modernizing and Ensuring PBM Accountability Act. Collectively, these policies embody not only Medicaid reforms of the NACDS-backed Protect Patient Access to Pharmacies Act, but also Medicare reforms of the NACDS-backed Neighborhood Options for Patients Buying Medicines (NO PBMs) Act like the must-have ability to ensure ‘reasonable and relevant’ PBM contract terms in Medicare Part D, strong Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services enforcement provisions, and quality measures/transparency.NACDS continues to work with the Committee to address some issues of concern with the legislation. Nonetheless – particularly with the PBMs’ focus on stalling this bill – it is imperative to sustain momentum behind this crucial effort.
You have the power to tell your Senators to stand strong and confront ‘pharmaceutical benefit manipulation’ in the legislative process. We know PBMs will attack and complicate this straightforward legislation in misleading ways. Help us share the powerful REAL PBM REFORM ad message and remind the U.S. Senate, if all patients don’t benefit from this package, it’s not REAL PBM REFORM.
