05/22/23 NACDS RxIMPACT Alert (US): PBM Reform Progress! Urge PBM Bill Support Before Panel Review
THE RIGHT COLUMN SHOWS A SAMPLE "THANK YOU" & "PLEASE SUPPORT" LETTER.  UPON ENTERING CONTACT DETAILS INTO THE BOTTOM RIGHT FIELDS, THE SYSTEM WILL SHOW YOUR LETTER (BASED ON WHETHER YOUR REPRESENTATIVE IS A COSPONSOR OR NOT).

Now that the House Energy & Commerce Health Subcommittee advanced PBM reform legislation for full House Energy & Commerce Committee review, NACDS RxIMPACT is calling for your help telling all U.S. Representatives to do everything possible to cosponsor and advance a much-needed PBM reform bill that puts patients before PBMs!

NACDS RxIMPACT is calling on YOU to act in TODAY’S letter-writing campaign to urge your U.S. Representative to support H.R. 1613. This is particularly important as the full House Energy & Commerce Committee will soon review the bill as well.

Authored by U.S. Rep. Buddy Carter (R-GA), the bipartisan Drug Pricing Transparency in Medicaid Act would crack down on some of the tactics by which “pharmaceutical benefit manipulator” middlemen maximize profits at the expense of patients, pharmacies, employers, and others. The bill prohibits “spread pricing” in Medicaid, establishes a “pass-through payment” model, and creates a Medicaid managed care “rate floor” requirement similar to that of Medicaid fee-for-service that focuses on cost-based pharmacy reimbursement and dispensing fees.

Our 100-second PMB explainer videodescribes what PBM reform means for patients and pharmacies alike.

The Drug Pricing Transparency in Medicaid Act would advance some of the key aspects of the NACDS’ Principles of PBM Reform. This legislation must be enacted into law as part of a total approach to turning the tide on PBM profiteering that forces patients and others to pay more for their medicines, that limits patients’ access to their pharmacist, that restricts patients’ access to the medicines right for them, and that jeopardizes the pharmacies on which patients rely.

U.S. Reps. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX), Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Deborah Ross (D-NC), Rick Allen (R-GA), and Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) have already enlisted to support this critical legislation. Join this NACDS RxIMPACT effort TODAY to urge your U.S. Representative to put patients before PBM profits by co-sponsoring the Drug Pricing Transparency in Medicaid Act! We will continue to be in touch with you as additional vital legislation is advanced.

To act, simply enter your contact information, click "Send Message" and the system will generate a personalized message to your U.S. Representative (the system will generate a letter based on whether your Rep. is already a cosponsor).  If you have any questions or would like any assistance, please contact Heidi Ecker via telephone at 703-837-4121 or email.
