Congress’ annual Summer Recess is when Members of Congress are back spending time in their home states and districts. This time presents a perfect opportunity to invite your Member of Congress to visit your program to witness the power of Meals on Wheels, as well as the challenges facing your program and the seniors you serve. Summer Recess Rush is our network's collective push to get Members of Congress to visit local programs and see your program in action.

Visits to your programs to meet you and the seniors you serve and to prepare, pack and/or deliver meals are the best opportunities for your Members of Congress to experience first-hand how their senior constituents rely on Meals on Wheels, how the services you provide are so much more than just a meal, and how critical it is to increase federal funding. 

We encourage you to use the simple email template on the right-hand side to invite your Members of Congress to visit your program during Congress’ Summer Recess. Appropriations discussions for Fiscal Year 2025 are happening now, as well as the reauthorization of the Older Americans Act. We urge you to take this opportunity and send an invitation today!
