Meals on Wheels America sent written testimony for the record to the Senate Special Committee on Aging regarding the recent hearing titled “Setting the Table: Promoting Healthy and Affordable Food for Older Americans”. This testimony highlights the importance of food, nutrition, and healthy aging and the critical role federal nutrition programs nationwide. Meals on Wheels America thanks the Committee for the ongoing dedication to these issues and proposes recommendations aimed to provide community-based senior nutrition programs with the resources they need to maintain operations, enable them to expand their capacity, further innovate, and form impactful partnerships with other sectors – such as healthcare – to meet the growing and changing needs of our nation’s diverse older adult population.
