Meals on Wheels America and NANASP Thank Leaders and Cosigners for Bipartisan Dear Colleague Letter
December 1, 2022 by Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels America and The National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs (NANASP) issued a press statement thanking the leaders and cosigners of the bipartisan Dear Colleague letter. This letter, led by Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Representative Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR-1), with a total of 26 Members of Congress joining in support, was sent to their colleagues urging the Appropriations Committee leadership to prioritize increased funding for nutrition services for older adults by including $1.93 billion for the Older Americans Act (OAA) Title III Nutrition Program – like Meals on Wheels – in the final FY 2023 appropriations bill being negotiated currently. As the deadline for FY 2023 funding is quickly approaching on December 16, 2022, this letter directly addresses the timeliness and urgency of the $1.93 billion to fund these essential programs.
