Bipartisan Appropriations Letters in House of Representatives
Each March, Members of Congress send their annual funding requests to leaders of the Appropriations Committee for consideration. Recently, two bipartisan letters circulated in the House of Representatives that called for protecting and increasing funding to support senior nutrition programs nationwide. The first letter, which was led by Representatives James McGovern (D-MA), Robert Brady (D-PA), Lou Barletta (R-PA), Peter King (R-NY), Maxine Waters (D-CA) and Gregory Meeks (D-NY) regarding the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and garnered 168 signatures. The second letter, which was led by Representatives Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR), Ted Deutch (D-FL) and Dave Loebsack (D-IA) called for increased funding for Older Americans Act (OAA) Title III Programs and received 83 bipartisan signatures.
