On Election Day, every city and town in Massachusetts had one vote in common. They ALL voted overwhelmingly in support of YES on Question 1. You read that correctly, every single municipality voted Yes on 1 to audit the legislature. Overall, 72% of the voters voted to audit the legislature. The audit the legislature ballot question was the highest percentage of any outcome for any ballot question this year.

Despite this landslide mandate, Speaker Ron Mariano and Senate President Karen Spilka have not accepted the outcome of the election and have both been silent on when they will comply with an audit. Days after the massive victory, the state auditor sent legislative leaders a letter demanding they respect the will of the voters and comply with the audit.

Don’t be fooled, these legislative leaders are hoping this whole problem will go away. They have a history of ignoring or changing the rules when they don’t like them. We can’t let these leaders ignore the will of the voters and deny the results of the election.

Contact your lawmakers today and demand they respect the will of the voters and allow an audit of the legislature. A landslide mandate was sent, now it’s time to hold them accountable.
