Do Not Support HB2712
Missouri House Bill 2712, introduced on January 8, 2026, by Representative Dane Diehl, updates pesticide rules so that if a pesticide is registered with the EPA under federal law (FIFRA) or has an EPA-approved label/classification for cancer risks, it automatically satisfies Missouri's requirements for cancer warning labels. This means state warnings aren't needed if the federal label is followed. The bill doesn't give manufacturers full legal immunity — other claims could still apply.

The Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Movement does not support this bill because it lets pesticide companies rely solely on often lenient EPA labels for cancer warnings, reducing state-level accountability for potential health risks. Kennedy has highlighted how pesticides contribute to cancer and chronic diseases through exposure in food and the environment. By deferring to federal standards, the bill limits Missouri's ability to add stronger warnings, prioritizing industry convenience over public safety and clashing with MAHA's demand for maximum protection from toxins.
