Support MA H2548
Massachusetts House Bill 2548, introduced in the 194th General Court by Representative Justin Thurber (by request of citizens Karen Spencer and John R. Gaskey), would ban the addition of fluoride to public water supplies across the state. It removes the existing law allowing fluoridation (Section 8C of Chapter 111) and replaces it with a strict prohibition on intentionally adding fluoride-based chemicals to municipal water systems. This ends a decades-old public health practice aimed at preventing tooth decay, meaning Massachusetts towns could no longer fluoridate their water. The bill's reporting date was extended to October 9, 2025, giving lawmakers more time to review it.

The Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Movement, led by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., strongly supports this bill as a Pro-MAHA initiative because it removes fluoride — a neurotoxic chemical Kennedy has called "industrial waste" — from public water supplies, protecting vulnerable populations like children from potential health risks such as lowered IQ and developmental issues. By prioritising clean, unadulterated water, the bill aligns with MAHA's mission to eliminate environmental toxins that contribute to chronic diseases, echoing Kennedy's push for states to lead on fluoride bans amid growing scientific scrutiny. Groups like MAHA Action and Children's Health Defence have backed similar efforts, viewing this as a win for health freedom and true public health reform.
