The Edmonton Public Schools board has submitted a motion to defy key parental consent provisions in Bill 27, the newly proposed Education Amendment Act - please send a message to Albertan politicians today urging them to defend parents' rights.
Whereas sex education in Alberta is currently given to all students by default, the Education Amendment Act would require parents to opt in rather than opt out of sex education, while it also mandates that schools seek parental permission to use a different pronoun for their child.
Once Bill 27 becomes law, schools must notify parents of what is being taught at least “30 days in advance and be given the opportunity to opt in rather than opt out of this (sex-education) instruction,” a government press release stated.
However, such parental involvement in children’s education has not been welcomed by the Edmonton Public Schools board as they declared a motion to defy the proposed bill and enforce their own policies regarding sexual education and the use of pronouns for students.
Demand that Albertan politicians publicly correct the school board – send an urgent message today.
The Education Amendment Act is an attempt by Premier Danielle Smith and others to halt LGBT indoctrination within Albertan schools.
But while Premier Smith appears to recognize parents’ rights in the education of their children, the Edmonton Public Schools board seems unwilling to relinquish their ideological influence on children's understanding of human sexuality.
Demand that Albertan politicians call out the school board – send an urgent message today.
We must demand that Albertan politicians step in and prevent any abuse of power that would trample on parents' rights. The Education Amendment Act is a welcome step towards allowing parents to protect their children from ideologies that are harmful to their well-being.
The school board's audacity in preparing to curb parents’ rights must be called out - please share this campaign after sending a message to your politicians!
