Minnesota's legislators are considering the legalization of assisted suicide, putting the lives of countless vulnerable people at risk should the End-of-Life Option Act pass.
Bills HF 1930 and SF 1813 would “[establish] an end-of-life option for terminally ill adults with a prognosis of six months or less,” according to the description, meaning anyone over age 18 who has been told they have six or fewer months left to live can essentially choose to be killed.
Our state would also become a destination for assisted suicide since it would be available to non-residents too - we must tell our legislators to reject this move.

Simply stated, this act would pose immense dangers to the protection of life in Minnesota.
If passed, it would only be a matter of time before the bill is extended even further, such as in Canada where an attempt was made last month to expand eligibility to include individuals with any sort of illness, including mental and not limited to terminal diagnosis. There are also growing calls to lower the minimum age requirement to as low as 12.
Thankfully, that legislation was temporarily put on hold in Canada, but there’s no telling how long it will be until it returns. Minnesota can expect the same if this act is passed.
All humans deserve care and respect, especially when in their darkest moments. But instead, some of our legislators are seeking to encourage those enduring great suffering to kill themselves.
It is sickening that those charged to protect human life now hope to destroy it.
That is in no way what Minnesotans deserve. Every life is precious, and our legislation must acknowledge that.
