We are thrilled to announce that Senate Bills S1292 and S2937 - bills that will support the establishment of a state-wide definition of antisemitism and its Inclusion in all DEI Curriculums taught by state institutions - were approved by Senate Committee Members and are now one step closer to becoming codified into state law. The IHRA Definition, if passed into law, will serve as a vital educational tool for law enforcement, institutions, and the general public to have a more clear understanding of what is antisemitism in all its nuanced forms, so perpetrators can be prosecuted when their speech results in hate incidents taken against the Jewish community.
We owe a great deal of thanks to the dedicated Senate Committee Members who voted to approve these crucial bills out of committee: Senator and Chairman Jim Beach, Senate Vice Chair John McKeon, Senator Holzapfel, and Senator Vincent Polistina.
We ask you to take a moment to express your gratitude to these members today, and let them know how much their support of this vital legislation means to all of us as a Jewish community here in New Jersey.
