Join IPC in Urging Passage of U.S. Defense Electronics Legislation
Action Alert

Raise Your Voice! Ask your U.S. Representative to join their colleagues in supporting provisions in FY25 defense legislation to stimulate domestic printed circuit board (PCB) industry.

The Situation

Members of Congress are sending letters to their colleagues on the Appropriations Committee urging them to support $45 million in Defense Production Act (DPA) funding for PCB manufacturing. Over the coming weeks, Congress will negotiate a final package to fund the U.S. Government for Fiscal Year 2025 by the Dec. 20 deadline. These negotiations include whether to adopt IPC-backed provisions that were included in the Senate bill, S. 4921. The Senate's Defense Appropriations Bill for FY25 includes a $500 million increase over the President’s budget request for DPA investments, including a $45 million line item for PCB manufacturing investments specified in the accompanying committee report. Furthermore, the report language encourages the Secretary of Defense to prioritize investments in the PCB industry, and it recommends continued funding in future years.

While IPC pushed for even greater funding, we are calling on the House of Representatives to adopt this common-sense measure, which will invest in a secure supply of PCBs at the heart of virtually all technology deployed across the $850 billion DOD budget.

It is important that the House support this measure in any final appropriations package, or else funding for PCB projects will fall to $0 in FY25.

How You Can Help

Send your Members of Congress a message, asking them to voice their support for these legislative provisions to their colleagues on the Appropriations Committee. Your message will help boost IPC’s advocacy to secure this funding and raise awareness of our industry’s critical role in the U.S. economy and national security.
