Florida’s billboard attorneys are attempting to push legislation that would roll back critical reforms that are working to drive down costs for consumers. This legislation would turn legal system abuse into a costly risk crisis for consumers, businesses, and our state’s economy. 

Legislation is being debated by lawmakers in Tallahassee that would undo the positive 2022 and 2023 reforms that are working to stabilize Florida’s insurance market. These bills would drive legal system abuse by: 

• HB 451/SB 554: Incentivizing frivolous lawsuits by forcing insurers to pay attorney fees     
• HB 947/ SB 1520: Eliminating the transparency in damages provision of 2023 reforms 
• HB 1437/ SB 1840: Requiring insurers to cover health care providers' legal fees in personal injury cases 
• HB 1551/ SB 426: Reinstating one-way attorney fees eliminated in 2022 

All these bills would promote excessive litigation and increase costs of insurance and other goods for all Floridians.
