The Laken Riley Act passed by a vote of 264-159 in the U.S. House of Representatives. Joined by 48 Democrats, Republicans unanimously voted to increase immigration enforcement by detaining criminal aliens charged or convicted of burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting.

The bill now moves to the U.S. Senate where it's likely to be called on Friday, January 10th and is likely to pass.

U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth has indicated that she will vote for the bill, along with nine other Democrat U.S. Senators.
