The bill grants the Attorney General the right to penalize a crisis pregnancy center if it “appears” that it has “engaged in, is engaging in, or was about to engage in [a deceptive] method, act, or practice.” Fines up to $50,000 can be imposed.
**UPDATE: SB 1909 passed in committee on March 29th. It was then voted in the Illinois Senate on Friday, March 31st. It passed in a partisan roll call vote, 31 to 19. It now moves on to the Illinois House for consideration.
Take ACTION: Send a message to your state representative asking him/her to oppose SB 1909.. Let them know that the work and ministry of these centers are supported by people of faith across the state who want to lend a helping hand to mothers and their unborn children.
