On March 10, USDA officially announced it would terminate the Local Food for Schools and Child Care (LFSCC) program – effective May 6. LFSCC was set to provide state agencies with $660 million for schools and child care sites to purchase local food over the next three years. This program allows states (and US Territories and Tribal governments) to tailor their plans to best meet the needs of producers, child nutrition program operators, and students. This is an incredible blow for our community and right now we need every voice to speak out in support of this program.
