As Rep. Frank Wolf (ret.) has explained, "In what has been described as having increasing echoes of Nazi Germany, the Chinese Communist Party has ... practiced forced sterilization of women, repeating Nazi eugenics practices for those the regime considered undesirable. The Chinese Communist Party is using tactics including arresting people for praying or going to a worship service, forbidding the use of religious names for children, destroying religious buildings, and more. While these tactics are impacting people of many different religious beliefs and backgrounds, including Christians, Tibetan Buddhists, Falun Gong practitioners, and more, the world’s attention has rightly expanded to also consider the plight of the Uyghur Muslim community."
Legislation is needed to address this blatant human rights violation. For example, legislation can help ensure that goods made with forced labor in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China do not enter the United States market.
