HPNA has joined a large group of national organizations representing healthcare workers supporting the Lorna Breen Reauthorization Act (S.3679/H.R. 7153), which was initially passed in 2022 to create a campaign within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to educate healthcare systems on reforms to reduce stress, burnout, and behavioral health issues among healthcare providers.
The reauthorization would continue the program, which has provided 44 grants to implement these reforms. The legislation has now passed the Senate Health, Labor, Education, and Pensions Committee and the House Energy and Commerce Committee, and HPNA continues to work with partner organizations and our congressional champions to pass it this year. Please join us in our efforts by sending a message to your senators and representative letting them know why it's important to support mental health care for providers and work to prevent burnout.
As always, thank you for supporting HPNA's advocacy and public policy efforts! If you have any questions, please reach out to Sarah Potter at sarahp@hpna.org.
