- Traumatic injury is the leading cause of death for Americans younger than 45, claiming more than 200,000 lives in 2020 alone.
- This includes those who died in shootings and other mass casualty events.
- The Stop the Bleed initiative began in 2015 to spur awareness and efforts to empower bystanders to assist others in an emergency.
The Prevent Blood Loss with Emergency Equipment Devices (Prevent BLEEDing) Act (S. 1653) provides grant funding to train citizens in anti-blood loss first-aid and for the purchase and maintenance of bleeding control kits and supplies in areas where people gather. These efforts can empower citizens to respond to emergencies wherever they are and save lives.
Contact your representatives and senators and urge them to support S. 1653 which would empower citizens to provide life-saving assistance to their neighbors in an emergency.
