Our advocacy work together in the Legislative Action Network (LAN) Community, is driven by our shared vision for change -- change that improves the lives of people who have been impacted by a cancer diagnosis. In this work of advocacy and in life, the only thing constant is change and change is indeed coming to the LAN community this summer. Yaminah Romulus, MPH First, we are thrilled to announce that Yaminah Romulus has been named as the new Manager of Government Affairs at Dana-Farber. In this newly created role, Yaminah will manage the LAN, and the Dana-Farber Patient Advocacy Internship Program, and will take leadership of several of the LAN state legislative priorities. Yaminah comes to Dana-Farber from Health Care For All (HCFA) where she served as a Policy Manager and was responsible for providing strategic support and operational direction for HCFA’s children’s healthcare advocacy work. Yaminah's advocacy work at HCFA included a focus on the management of the Children’s Health Access Coalition (CHAC) -- a coalition of 40+ organizations, of which Dana-Farber is an active member. While at HCFA, Yaminah also led an advocacy campaign that resulted in the signing of a new law that helps address maternal racial health inequities and promotes uninterrupted care and support for pregnant and birthing people. Prior to her role at HCFA, Yaminah served as a Health Policy and Program Associate at the Network for Excellence in Health Innovation (NEHI) where she was responsible for supporting research, analysis, and policy activities related to a wide range of areas, including population health and social determinants of health. Please join me as we welcome and celebrate Yaminah’s next chapter at Dana-Farber, which will begin in mid-July. As we prepare to welcome Yaminah, I will transition from serving as a member of the government affairs team at Dana-Farber and will return to being an advocacy volunteer within the LAN community. I look forward to remaining connected to all of you and continuing the deeply impactful, equity-driven advocacy work we have been doing together. While changes are ahead, our work of shared and collective advocacy remains the same. During this time of change, should you have questions about LAN advocacy work, please contact Caroline Powers, the SVP of External Affairs at Dana-Farber at caroline_powers@dfci.harvard.edu. |
