In this July edition of the Dana-Farber Legislative Action Network (LAN) newsletter we are pleased to introduce to you Caroline Powers, the new Senior Vice President for External Affairs at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Caroline joins Dana-Farber after Anne Levine, the creator of the LAN, retired after 26 years of dedicated service and advocacy.
Caroline is herself a long-time advocate who, for some, needs no introduction. Caroline joined Dana-Farber from the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), where she served as Senior Director of Federal Relations. Prior to her time at ACS CAN, Caroline worked on Beacon Hill and Capitol Hill as staff for Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick and Congressman Stephen Lynch.
Caroline has a passion for ensuring that all patients have access to high-quality health care and is driven to guarantee that robust funding for cancer research and prevention is a priority for decision makers in the federal government.
As Caroline begins her work at Dana-Farber, the LAN is starting a process to select our top federal legislative priorities and we want to hear from you. You can weigh in and let us know if there are federal legislative issues that are of interest to you by emailing advocacy@dfci.harvard.edu. We will review your suggestions as part of our federal agenda-setting process and in September will host our third installment of Advocacy Rounds to unveil the new LAN Federal Priorities for 2021-2022.
Please join with us in welcoming Caroline to the Dana-Farber Legislative Action Network.
