Like nearly 200,000 Alabamians, Lary is in the health coverage gap. He earns too much money to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to buy a private insurance plan.
Due to his cancer treatment, Lary has faced a lifetime of health issues, including scoliosis and chronic pain. These conditions have kept him in the hospital, out of work and in tens of thousands of dollars in medical debt. Seeing her son suffer inspired Brenda to advocate for Lary just like she did when he was facing cancer as a child. She has contacted all her lawmakers, sharing Lary’s story and urging them to take action for those in the coverage gap.
But Brenda can’t do it alone. We need more voices to join hers and Lary’s. Their story represents the thousands of Alabamians who are suffering because our state hasn’t expanded Medicaid like 40 other states have already done.
Help Brenda. Help Lary. Add your voice and reach out to your lawmakers today. Together, we can make a difference for families like theirs.
