Experience is key in helping your legislators understand firsthand what it means to live in, work at and be a part of an Assisted Living community or Continuing Care Retirement Community. The easiest, most effective way to immerse your legislator in the world of senior living is to invite them to visit and tour your community. Your residents and staff will feel connected to the political process and continue to foster productive, meaningful relationships with their legislators which will ultimately help to further CALA's advocacy and legislative goals.
When filling out the letter, be sure to include:
- Your community name
- How many staff you employ.
- How many residents you have.
- Your contact information.
Looking for ideas to invite your legislator to, here are a few ideas:
- A resident’s 100th birthday celebration.
- A tour of your community.
- A townhall where the legislator can answer questions and talk about their priorities.
- Happy Hour.
- Holiday celebration.
