Let your legislator know who you are and why the CACFP matters to you!
As a constituent, it's important that you let your elected officials know what your top priorities and needs are. Messages from constituents can have a big impact on what legislation and policies your elected officials support. So, take this opportunity to send a personal message to your federal officials and let them know that CACFP is important to you and those you serve.
Feel free to use NCA's advocacy email templates to get started. Be sure to include:
- Your name & organization
- That you operate the CACFP and a short summary of the CACFP (use our fact sheet)
- How many children/adults attend your program
- How many meals you serve
- The impact your program has on those you serve
Also, consider adding an "ask" such as the need for:
- higher reimbursement rates,
- the elimination of the two-tier system for family child care homes,
- a reduction of paperwork and administrative burdens within the program,
- or, virtual monitoring flexibilities.
