Charter schools in Indiana operate with about two-thirds the amount of funding as district-run schools. Yet charter schools serve significant numbers of students from low-income communities and students of color and have shown to produce better academic outcomes. SB 518 would change the way public schools are funded so that dollars follow the student to their public school of choice.
